Tulips

Story of the Painting
"I painted this from Tulips which I chose from a bulb catalog, planted, and grew. These two particularly attracted me because of the beautiful colors, the sculptural forms, and the texture of the petals, which I depicted using washes and dry brush watercolor techniques. Tulips are a much beloved flower of spring. As such, they are said to symbolize imagination, dreaminess, and perfect love, according to some who study the historical meanings of flowers. I read this after I had done this painting, but for this painting of a pair of Tulips, I liked the idea of Tulips representing love. This painting has been purchased."
