Camellia Japonica
Story of the Painting
"I painted this from a flower I was given. Camellias have long been a favorite flower, as my Mother grew them. When our family moved from her childhood home, she moved the shrubs to a lake under the pine trees. The Camellias have thrived ever since under the shade of the pine trees and the pine straw mulch. Some say the Camellia is considered a symbol of perfection and excellence. Some say that it indicates a deep longing in the heart for your beloved, that with its gentle shape and soft round petals and curves it is a symbol of desire, passion, and refinement. For me it was an object of beauty which I enjoyed painting. This painting has been purchased." |
