Description
This etching was first drawn in the courtyard garden of the famous and lively Old Spaghetti Factory in North Beach in San Francisco, many years ago, about 1970. The place was a “true original” appreciated for the wild and funky eclectic decor created by the owner, cheap pasta dinners, wonderful live entertainment such as world class flamenco dancers and “Donald Pippin’s Pocket Opera” and became a cultural and social center in North Beach popular for many years with a wide variety of people: local artists, musicians & writers, art students, neighbors, San Francisco natives & residents and many visitors to the area. After some very small lighter earlier editions, the plate lay dormant for about 30 years. Over a period of two years, the plate was completely redrawn and engraved with new areas added and the dark/light contrast greatly built up, finished in March, 2013.
